Salbabida Story
The "Salbabida" story is a very meaningful story. The English term for salbabida is a float that serves as a life-saver in cases of someone drowning in any types of bodies of water. A person being a salbabida means that that person is a life-saver in the perspective of the specific person he/she saved. With a simple act of kindness, we can change other's lives and how they perceive the world. The video attached states the salbabida story of Efren Penaflorida, KB Manalaysay and Kesz Valdez.
When Efren Penaflorida was young, he was being bullied by other kids and all he could think of is getting revenge. KB, being a compassionate friend, offered Efren a help, by which Efren thought that KB was gonna help him fight back on the bullies. Instead, KB taught Efren how to let go of the grudges he holds. That way, Efren saw KB as his salbabida for helping him look at a different perspective. Through KB's help, he learned how to be a salbabida to others as well.
Kesz Valdez was also young when he had an experience of being saved by KB and Efren. When Kesz was just 4 years old, he was homeless, they found him in front of a convenience store being mistreated by people around him. His head was bleeding from the kicks he received from strangers. KB was the first person to help him, and Efren offered help too. They fed him, clothed him, and gave him his basic needs. That's why Kesz learned how to be a salbabida to others as well because he too, has an experience where his life is saved by other's kindness.
With the experiences they had, they continued being salbabida to others because they know that somewhere out there, someone needs a life-saver. These stories are really inspiring because surely, we all experienced receiving acts of kindness from people in different ways, and that gives us faith in humanity. And receiving acts of kindness makes feels good, that's why we should also do it to others.
